October is a special month for us at El Recreo Spanish — it’s not only a time to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month but also a moment to share our latest projects, connect with families, and mark the 9th birthday of our beloved community. This year, we’re thrilled to announce a series of inspiring events in London that highlight our mission: bringing the Spanish language and Hispanic culture to children and families through books, workshops, and meaningful experiences.

London Spanish Book Fair – October 4th, 2025

We’re excited to be part of the London Spanish Book Fair, one of the most important gatherings for Spanish-language publishing in the UK.

This year, El Recreo Spanish will showcase:

• Our popular Story Book Cirilo Explora Colombia, a bilingual adventure that takes children through the flavours, colours, and rhythms of Colombia.

• Engaging Activity Books like Fun Vowels & Colours and Fun Math in Spanish for children aged 3–7.

• And for the first time ever, our Spanish Curriculum Books will be available for purchase — a groundbreaking resource for parents, teachers, and schools.

Cirilo Explores Colombia – Special Workshop for Families

Join us as we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and the 9th anniversary of El Recreo Spanish with a joyful family workshop!

This special event features the official launch of our first illustrated book “Cirilo Explores Colombia”, with a live reading by the author, Milena Jurasz-Cruz.

What to expect:

• A magical storytime with Cirilo’s brand-new adventure

• A hands-on cooking session with Yami Arepas where kids make their own arepas

• Games, family fun, and Colombian traditions brought to life

Each child receives:

• A copy of Cirilo Explores Colombia (£8.99)

• An apron

• Their own handmade arepa + a pandebono treat

It’s an immersive cultural experience where children can learn, cook, and play in Spanish, while families create lasting memories together.

Workshop: Raising Bilingual Children – Casa Colombia UK

As part of our Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations, we are also hosting a workshop for parents raising bilingual children at Casa Colombia UK.

This event will feature:

• Practical tools and strategies for supporting your child’s bilingual journey.

• An interactive reading of our new book Cirilo Explora Colombia.

It’s a unique opportunity to celebrate bilingualism, strengthen family ties, and connect with other multicultural families.
